Notice to residents | Dismantling of the main span of the original Champlain Bridge in Brossard starting March 28
March 24, 2022 Champlain Deconstruction – Brossard

Dear Resident,

 

The dismantling of the main span of the bridge will start during the week of March 28 at the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation’s wharf in Brossard.

 

This operation will continue until June 2022. A detailed work schedule will be released soon. The structure will be dismantled piece by piece with a crane. Some elements will also be cut apart on the ground. The materials will then be transported either to specialized recycling centres or to storage sites if the components are to be reused.

 

This work may generate:

  • Noise from the dismantling work and the off-site transportation of materials.

 

JCCBI will implement the following measures:

  • Sound level meters to comply with noise standards. JCCBI does not expect these thresholds to be exceeded.
  • Air quality measurement stations to comply with standards.
  • Flaggers to direct trucks exiting the site, if necessary
