Ongoing and upcoming work

The Corporation is proud to help preserve this heritage building and is promoting the enhancement of this one-of-a-kind structure.

Renovation work is currently underway to repair the Île Sainte-Hélène Pavilion. They will be carried out over a two-year period. The goal is to extend its service life. Its Art Deco character will be preserved.

2025: First phase of work

  • restore the building’s exterior facades and two west towers
  • replace windows, doors and mosaics
  • restore the bronze bust of Jacques Cartier and the commenmorative bronze plaques

2026: Second phase of work

  • restore the building’s exterior facades and two east towers
  • replace windows, doors and mosaics
  • drainage work around the building

All of this work has been an investment in the future to ensure, among other things, that the pavilion lasts as a support structure for the Jacques Cartier Bridge.
