Work will be carried out on the Melocheville Tunnel from June to October 2026, to extend the lifespan of the existing infrastructure and to meet current design standards.
Nature of the work
Here are some key components of the planned work:
Replacing the P-113 Bridge and raising the soffit;
Milling and paving of roadway approaches;
Replacing damaged fences and building new fences, where required, including at the top of the rock faces on the northeast side;
Sealing of the door between the JCCBI pumping station and the gallery of the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation lock, to reduce the risk of flooding;
Improving the efficiency of the heating cable system along the approaches (ditches) and in the north fan drift;
Replacing eight foundation blocks and completing various related work.
Planned traffic hindrances and detours
Traffic impacts are planned based on the needs of all users.
Road users
No traffic hindrances are expected in the tunnel;
On the west side of the tunnel, westbound traffic will be diverted to a contraflow lane on the east side (south lane).
Pedestrians and cyclists
Two alternative active transportation options will be available:
la fermeture complète du trottoir, accompagnée de la mise en place d’un service de navette;
ou la déviation du trottoir vers le sommet de la paroi nord‑ouest, en passant par le terrain de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent.
